Two Dead, Seven Injured As Four Shops Collapse In Agra's Vikas Colony; Rescue Ops Underway

In a tragic accident on Saturday, two people died and seven others were injured after four shops collapsed in Sector 7, Was Vikas Colony, reports news agency PTI quoting officials. Additional Police Commissioner Sanjeev Tyagi said that nine people were pulled out from the debris and rushed to a medical college where two died during the treatment.

The incident happened around 4 pm. Some renovation and repair work was underway inside the shops, and some family members along with labourers were present there, he said.
According to Tyagi, construction work was underway when the shops collapsed, trapping several people. Immediately, the police launched a rescue operation and sent the injured to SM Hospital.

Kishan Upadhyay (65) and Vishnu Upadhyay (60) were killed in the collapse, the officer added. Rescue operations are underway, he said.
Three Children Killed As Truck Drives Into Roadside Hut In UP
In another incident, three girls were crushed to death and their mother was seriously injured when a truck ploughed into their roadside hut here while they were fast asleep, police said on Saturday. The incident took place around 11 pm on Friday in front of the Kamakhya Dham temple in the Gahmar police station area, they said. Station House Officer (SHO) Ashish Nath Singh said the truck, which was going towards Bara from Ghazipur, drove into the hut where Santara Devi and her daughters Sapna Kumari (9), Kabootri (7) and Jwala (4) were sleeping.
While the children were crushed under the truck, Santara was seriously injured and is undergoing treatment at a government hospital, the SHO said.The truck has been seized and efforts are being made to nab the driver, he said.The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, police said.
