Priest's Body Found Hanging From Ceiling Inside Mathura Temple: Police
Uttar Pradesh: The body of a priest was discovered hanging inside a temple in Mathura, police stated. Locals discovered the body and alerted authorities. The body has been sent for a post-mortem.
The body of a priest was found hanging inside a temple in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, police said.
"Charan Das, who was a priest at a Shiva temple in Mathura, was found dead in the morning. His body was found hanging from a hook in the ceiling of the temple," Saunkh police outpost in-charge Sandeep Kumar said, news agency PTI reported.
Locals found the body and alerted police. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
Police said the incident appears to be a case of suicide.

On Wednesday, a Catholic priest committed suicide in One Town. On Wednesday morning, he was discovered hanging from the ceiling of his home. His family members have expressed concerns about his death. Kondru Velankani Raju (33) was an assistant parish priest at St. Peter's Cathedral in Vijayawada and the vicar of RCM Church in Tarapet, according to police. He is from Indupalli in Krishnadistrict. The priest left a suicide note in which he stated that no one is to blame for his suicide and that he is taking the extreme step in his room. On Wednesday morning, a church employee noticed the incident and called the police, TNN reported.

Gulab Das, a 60-year-old temple priest, was discovered dead in's Aduki village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Refinery police, in April of this year. A cop also committed suicide by shooting himself in the Highway police station's barracks. According to police, the priest died after falling while going to relieve himself around 7 a.m., as his body was discovered with facial injuries. He had been a priest at the temple for the previous 15 years, TOI reported.
