Modi In Kashi: PM To Have Lunch With 2,500 Labourers Who Built Kashi Vishwanath Corridor

PM Modi will have lunch with around 2,500 workers who worked meticulously to give the old temple a new look including construction workers and craftsmen.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate his dream project, the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor in Varanasi today. Along with inaugurating the first phase of the project, he will also have lunch with the labourers who worked day and night to build the massive facelift of the Kashi Vishwanath temple. PM Modi will have lunch with around 2,500 workers who worked meticulously to give the old temple a new look including construction workers and craftsmen.

As the PM is set to arrive in Varanasi today around 10:30 AM, the workers were busy polishing and lighting up the temple and its surroundings till late evening on Sunday, reported PTI. The first phase of the Kashi Vishwanath Dham is built at a cost of Rs 339 crores.

The Importance Of The Project

According to a press release from the Prime Minister’s office, this project intends to provide an easily accessible pathway to connect Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple to the banks of the River Ganga. With this pathway, the devotees do not have to cross the congested and unkempt streets after the holy dip in the River Ganga while walking towards the temple to offer Gangajal to Lord Vishwanath.

A total of 23 buildings will be inaugurated in the first phase which will provide facilities to the pilgrims. They will include Yatri Suvidha Kendras, Tourist Facilitation Centre, Vedic Kendra, Mumukshu Bhavan, Bhogshala, City Museum, Viewing Gallery, Food Court, among others.

Prime Minister’s Schedule

The PM will inaugurate the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor around 1 PM today and then dedicate it to the people of the country. The ceremony will be telecasted live across the country. He will also visit the Kaal Bhairav temple at noon and review the arrangements at the ghats. He will also witness the Ganga Aarti aboard a Ro-Ro vessel at 6 PM.

Mukhyamantri Parishad

In his two-day visit, the PM will also attend a conclave organised by the Chief Ministers of 12 BJP-ruled states in which nine Deputy CMs will also participate. The conclave called ‘Mukhyamantri Parishad’ will include CMs from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
