UP: 4 Booked For Organising 'Indecent' Holi Party In Mathura

Four persons were booked for allegedly organising an "indecent" Holi party in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.

Four individuals, including a restaurant owner, were booked for allegedly organising an "indecent" Holi party under the Vrindavan Police Station area in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. As per a report from PTI, law enforcement acted upon a purported video of the event that took place on March 21.

The programme was arranged by a real estate group. Arvind Kumar, Superintendent of Police (city), stated that an FIR has been lodged under IPC sections 188 and 294 at the Vrindavan Police Station.

Uttar Pradesh Advisory Ahead Of The Festival 

Earlier, the UP Police had issued a set of directives in an attempt to avert any law and order issues and maintain peace. Leaves of police personnel were cancelled for Sunday and Monday so that they were on duty at every point. On Thursday, UP Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar, issued a stern set of directives to all field police officers, instructing them to take decisive action against individuals involved in disturbing the state's law and order situation, according to a report by the Hindustan Times.

Meanwhile, the district police chiefs instructed the police to identify trouble spots and people who create trouble so that they can be monitored closely, take precautionary measures and be vigilant to any issues.

In Lucknow, District Magistrate Surya Pal Gangwar had issued an order banning liquor sales on March 25, the day of Holi, to maintain public peace. The order read, “For the purpose of maintaining public peace on the occasion of Holi, I, Surya Pal Gangwar, District Magistrate, Lucknow, under Section 59 of the Uttar Pradesh Excise Act, direct that all liquor shops, including those selling country liquor, foreign liquor, beer, model shops, cannabis, toddy, bar licenses, and other related permissions, will remain completely closed on 25.03.2024.”

Earlier this week, Section 144 was imposed in Lucknow till May 17. JCP Law and Order Upendra Kumar Agrawal issued the order earlier this month for a period that covers elections, Holi, and Ramadan. Violations will be met with appropriate action.
