Kanwar Yatra 2022: Know Elaborate Arrangements By Railways For Existing & Special Trains

A special train will be operated and long route trains will halt at Raiwala and Motichur stations for the devotees.

New Delhi: With the beginning of Kawar Yatra, Indian Railways has made elaborate arrangements for devotees while also extending the run of two trains till Haridwar. The Northern Railways will also add coaches, stoppages and extend the routes of five pairs of trains on a temporary basis. Kanwariyas (Shiva devotees) fetch water from holy places like Galta Teerth in Jaipur to offer it at Shiva temples. It is an annual pilgrimage of Lord Shiva's devotees during the holy month of Shravan.

Delhi-Saharanpur and Delhi-Shamli passenger trains will operate till Haridwar. "Additional coaches are being deployed by the railways, the same trains have been extended from July 13 to July 28 at Haridwar railway station, as well as three additional trains have been prepared by the railways due to the increase in the number of Kavad passengers, which have been prepared by the Haridwar district administration," news agency ANI quoted Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr DCM), Northern Railway (Moradabad Railway Division), Sudhir Kumar Singh as saying.

A mela special train will be operated between Moradabad and Luxar in Haridwar daily. It will pass via Kaanth, Sentara, Dhampur, Nagina, Nazibabad, Mauzzampur and Balawali.

ANI reported officials as informing that the railway ticket checking staff, booking clerks, and railway reservation clerks have been called by the railways from the second division of railways and the number of booking counters has also doubled.

Security Arrangements

Security arrangements have also been enhanced as three more trains have been readied for an emergency. 250 Railway Protection Force personnel (RPF) will be deployed for the safety of the pilgrims.

Women battalion along with jawans have been called to Haridwar railway station.

The Rajasthan Police on Thursday said that strict security arrangements have been made for 'Kanwar Yatra' and drones will be deployed to monitor its routes.

The police said tight security arrangements have been made in view of the murder of a tailor in Udaipur on June 28.

"Special arrangements will be there to monitor the situation throughout the month. It will be ensured that the yatra is held peacefully," a police official said, as quoted by news agency PTI.

No DJ will not be allowed during the yatra, the officer added.

Every year, the Kanwariyas (pilgrims) visit places like Haridwar, Gaumukh and Gangotri in Uttarakhand and Sultanganj in Bihar to fetch the holy water of River Ganga. They then worship God with the same water. In the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Kanwar Yatra in was cancelled in Uttarakhand last year, and entry at 'Har ki Pauri' was also restricted.
