Addressing a public rally in Shirdi, the defence minister said that soon the Indian economy will be among the top three economies in the world.

New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi India can become the largest economy in the world by 2047.

Addressing a public rally in Shirdi, the defence minister said that soon the Indian economy will be among the top three economies in the world.

"The day is not too far when India will become a top three country on the economic scale. The way our government is moving forward under the leadership of PM Modi, by 2047, India could become the largest economy across the world," Singh said at the 123rd Birth Anniversary celebrations of Vithalrao Vikhe Patil.
He said that Vithalrao Vikhe Patil played a significant role in the growth of the cooperative sector in the entire country.

"Padma Shri awardee Vithal Rao Vikhe Patil played a significant role in the growth of the cooperative sector not just in Maharashtra but in the entire nation," he stated.

"You must've heard the slogan Sahakar se Samriddhi. We have also started a scheme with this name through which we are trying the revival of several sectors including the sugar industry. With this scheme, we are also working towards strengthening Urban and Rural Cooperative banks," he added.

Earlier in the day, the BJP leader offered prayers at Shirdi Temple in Maharashtra's Nashik district. In a video shared by news agency ANI, Singh was seen performing ‘aarti’ at the temple.

He was accompanied by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and the Minister of Revenue Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil.
