'Not Sonia, Vasundhara Raje Is CM's Leader': Sachin Pilot Attacks Gehlot, Announces 'Jan Sangharsh Yatra'

Taking a swipe at Gehlot, Sachin Pilot alleged that not Sonia Gandhi but Vasundhara Raje Scindia is Chief Minister's real leader.

New Delhi: A month after Sachin Pilot attacked Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot for not acting against the alleged corruption of the previous BJP government, Pilot on Tuesday announced that he will start a five-day 'Jan Sangharsh Pad Yatra' from Ajmer to Jaipur starting May 11 to raise issues of corruption.

Addressing a press conference, Pilot said, "I will hold a five-day-long 'Jan Sangarsh Yatra' from Ajmer to Jaipur starting May 11. This yatra is against corruption. Any further decision will be taken after this yatra."

Taking a swipe at Gehlot, Pilot alleged that not Sonia Gandhi but Vasundhara Raje Scindia is Chief Minister's real leader. He said that it is the primary reason why Gehlot is not taking any action on corruption charges.

"After listening to Ashok Gehlot's speech in Dholpur, it seems like his leader is not Sonia Gandhi but Vasundhara Raje Scindia. I have now understood why the CM (Ashok Gehlot) has not acted against corruption," Pilot told reporters.

He was referring to Ashok Gehlot's comment on Sunday that Vasundhara Raje and two other BJP leaders helped save his government during the 2020 revolt by Congress MLAs.

"Some people want to weaken the Congress party, we will not let them succeed...After listening to Ashok Gehlot's speech in Dholpur, I have understood why we could not take action on the cases of corruption in the last 4.5 years. No leader is more important that the public," he added.

Pilot further stated: "For the first time, I am seeing someone criticize MPs and MLAs of their own party. Praising leaders from BJP and dishonouring Congress leaders is beyond my understanding, this is absolutely wrong."

Gehlot and Pilot have been at loggerheads over the post of chief minister ever since the Congress formed the government in Rajasthan in December 2018. In July 2020, Pilot and a section of party MLAs who supported him declared an open rebellion, demanding a change of leadership in Rajasthan. It led to a one-month-long political crisis that ended after assurance by the party high command to look into the issues raised by Pilot.
