Punjab Elections: Arvind Kejriwal Takes Jibe At Channi, Says 'I May Be Dusky But My Intentions Are Clear'

Kejriwal further said that ever since he promised to give Rs. 1,000 per month to every woman in Punjab if voted to power, he has been constantly attacked by the CM.

New Delhi: The war of words between the ruling Congress party and the Aam Aadmi Party seems to be intensifying ahead of the Assembly elections in Punjab. Launching a scathing attack on Charanjit Singh Channi's 'Brown British' comment, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal said, "My colour may be dusky, but the intentions are clear and I do not make false promises."

After Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal promised free education to children and an ex-gratia of Rs 1 crore to the families of soldiers or police personnel who lost their lives in Punjab, the Punjab Chief Minister termed AAP as the party of "Brown Britishers" in an attempt to woo voters ahead of state assembly elections. On this comment, Kejriwal said that even though his skin colour is dusky, his intentions are clear.

On his way from Amritsar to Pathankot, Kejriwal said, "I want to tell the Congress that once our government comes to power, we would fulfil all the promises we make to the common people of Punjab. Even if I am brown-skinned and wear common clothes, I don't make false promises.''

Kejriwal further said that ever since he promised to give Rs. 1,000 per month to every woman in Punjab if voted to power, he has been constantly attacked by the CM.

He said, "I have great respect for Channi sahib. But ever since I have announced to give Rs. 1,000 per month to all women in Punjab if I come to power, I have been targeted. A few days back, he took a jibe at me for wearing simple clothes. But, all I want to tell him is that I have no problem with him taunting me on this."

It is to be noted that AAP has still not revealed their CM candidate for the Punjab elections.
