2 Dead After Punjab MLA's Car Crashes Into Motorbike In Faridkot

The driver of the car belonging to AAP MLA Gurdit Singh Sekhon fled from the spot after realising that the two people had died after the accident in Farikot, Punjab.

Two people were killed in a road accident on Sadiq Road in Punjab's Faridkot after their motorcycle was hit by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Gurdit Singh Sekhon's pilot car on Friday. Amarinder Singh, police station-in-charge, told news agency ANI that the pilot car collided with the motorcycle resulting in the death of two people. The villagers around the area of the accident have said that the driver is absconding after the accident. 

"A collision occurred between a pilot car belonging to AAP MLA Gurdit Singh Sekhon and a motorcycle in Faridkot. Two people died in the accident, and their bodies were taken to the Medical College. The incident is being investigated", Singh was quoted by ANI. 

According to a Hindustan Times report, the victims have been identified as Satpal Singh (52) and Nacchatar Singh (54), residents of Jhotiwala village in Faridkot district.

A case has been registered under Sections 304-A, 279, 338 and 427 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Faridkot City police station, the report mentioned.

As per the HT report, Sekhon was in a separate vehicle behind the Gypsy when in the incident occurred. Meanwhile, an official privy to the investigation said that the deceased were returning to Jhotiwala village after purchasing seeds. The official said that the motorcycle was taking a turn towards link road when the Gypsy hit them from the back. The two on the bike sustained injuries and died on the spot, realising this the driver fled the spot.

Station house officer Amarinder Singh said that the police have started the investigation, and damaged vehicles have been seized, according to the report.
