Police Lathi-Charge BPSC Teacher Candidates in Patna Over Supplementary Result Demand

Police in Patna used mild lathi-charge on BPSC TRE-3 teacher aspirants protesting near CM House, demanding release of supplementary recruitment results. Tension remains high.

The entire incident took place in the high-security VVIP zone near the CM's residence. Police intervened as the candidates approached the area and asked them to disperse. When the protestors refused to stop and continued to move forward, a light lathi-charge was carried out to control the situation. The police later cleared the area and removed the protestors.

Although the number of candidates was not massive, it was sizable enough to attract attention. The teacher aspirants were carrying posters and banners with bold slogans such as: "No Supplementary, No Vote for BPSC TRE-3", "No Vote for Those Who Rob Youth of Their Rights", and "Give Supplementary or Give Us Death". Several other placards carried similar strongly worded messages.

One of the protesting candidates, Subhash Singh, stated that they have been protesting in Gardanibagh for the last four months. “We have approached every possible official – ministers, secretaries, MLAs – but no one has provided a resolution,” he said. Another candidate mentioned that the Education Minister had assured them that a letter had been sent to BPSC regarding the issue. Even the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) gave verbal assurances, but no concrete action has been taken so far. “We are feeling hopeless,” he added.

A father of one of the candidates also joined the protest and said, “Those who missed the qualifying mark in TRE-3 by just one or two marks should be declared successful through a supplementary result.”

BPSC is conducting the teacher recruitment process, and a total of 87,774 posts were announced under TRE-3. However, only around 51,000 candidates have received postings so far. The Education Minister had earlier promised a supplementary result, but no steps have been taken yet to release it.
