SP Leaders Call Padma Vibhushan To Mulayam Singh Yadav An 'Insult', Dimple Demands Bharat Ratna

"Netaji should be conferred with Bharat Ratna. It was our demand to govt to give Bharat Ratna to him," said Dimple Yadav.

New Delhi: Samajwadi Party MP and daughter-in-law of Mulayam Singh Yadav on Thursday demanded Bharat Ratna for SP founder and said, "Netaji should be conferred with Bharat Ratna. It was our demand to govt to give Bharat Ratna to him."

Yadav received the country's second-highest civilian honor, the Padma Vibhushan, posthumously.

Meanwhile, Swami Prasad Maurya, leader of the Samajwadi Party, stated on Thursday that the government has mocked Mulayam Singh Yadav's stature and contributions to the country by awarding him the Padma Vibhushan.

He and other party leaders demanded that the founder of the Samajwadi Party receive the country's highest civilian honor, the Bharat Ratna.

Reacting to the award, SP MLA Maurya tweeted in Hindi, “By giving Padma Vibhushan posthumously to Netaji Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav, the Government of India has made a mockery of Netaji’s stature, work and contributions to the nation. If Netaji had to be respected then he should have been honoured with Bharat Ratna.”

Similar views were expressed by party spokesperson I P Singh. “Except the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian honour, no other honour befits the son of the soil, Late Mulayam Singh Yadav. An announcement should be made to give Bharat Ratna to our respected Netaji without any delay,” Singh tweeted.

Shivpal Singh Yadav, the leader of the SP, told reporters in Etawah that his brother Mulayam Singh Yadav received the award for his work when they asked about it.

Shivpal Singh Yadav stated that while he was defense minister, he made historic decisions in favour of army personnel and raised the voice of the poor, laborers, youth, students, unemployed, and lawyers.

On October 10 of last year, Yadav, the founder of the Samajwadi Party and three-time chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, passed away.
