Manorama Khedkar, mother of the controversial IAS trainee officer Puja Khedkar has been arrested from Maharashtra's Mahad, said Superintendent of Police, Pune Rural, Pankaj Deshmukh.
Manorama first under spotlight after a video of hers went viral on social media where she was brandishing a gun. The incident in the video pertained to a land parcel bought by Puja's father Dilip Khedkar, a retired Maharashtra government officer, in Dhadwali village in Pune's Mulshi tehsil, an official earlier said, reported PTI.
Locals had claimed that the Khedkar family had encroached on the land of neighbouring farmers.
In the two-minute video, Manorama, accompanied by her body guards, could be seen engaging in a heated argument with the neighbours. She could be seen yelling at a man with a pistol in her hand. She could be seen walkinh up to the man, waving the gun in his face before concealing it in her hand.
Last week, the Rural Pune Police said a probe would be conducted to ascertain facts, including whether she possessed a licence for the firearm, reported PTI.
Days later, another purported video of her went viral where she was seen arguing with Metro rail construction workers in Pune. In the 27-second video, Manorama is seen arguing with the Metro rail construction workers where some police personnel are also present.
The 2023-batch Indian Administrative Services officer, Puja Khedkar is mired in controversy, accused of posing as an OBC non-creamy layer candidate in her Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) candidature. She also claimed that she was mentally and visually disabled, but refused to take medical tests to corroborate her claims.
She came under fire after reports emerged about her alleged demands for a separate office and official car and unauthorised use of a beacon on her private car during her posting in Pune.
