Jharkhand UPA MLAs To Reach Ranchi Ahead Of Trust Vote, CM Soren Says 'Oppn Will Be Trapped In Traps They Laid For Us'

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has called a special session of the Assembly on Monday where he will seek trust vote amid glaring political crisis in the state.

Ahead of the trust vote convened by Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren in a special session of Assembly tomorrow, MLAs of ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA) reached the Raipur Airport on Sunday to arrive at Ranchi, reported news agency ANI. Amid ongoing political crisis in the state, 32 MLAs of the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-Congress-Rashtriya Janata Dal alliance were flown out to neighbouring Chhattisgarh's capital Raipur on August 30 in bid to thwart BJP's possible attempt to poach them.

Meanwhile, CM Soren targeted the Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party saying "the Opposition will be trapped in the traps they have laid for us," reported the news agency.

The Chief Minister has called a special session of the Assembly on Monday where he will seek trust vote amid glaring political crisis in the state. As per a letter sent by the Assembly secretariat to the MLAs, the chief minister has expressed his willingness to move a motion of confidence to prove his majority, stated a report by news agency PTI.

The decision to move the special session of Assembly by CM Soren comes amid a sealed envelope sent by the Election Commission to Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais on August 25 containing a decision by the former over a petition filed by the Bharatiya Janata Party on Soren’s disqualification from Assembly in an office for profit case.

“A state of confusion is prevailing in Jharkhand. Our delegation met the Governor (on Thursday) and he assured us to clear the air in a day or two. But nothing has happened till now. Therefore, we will raise our points in the Assembly and prove our majority,” Parliamentary Affairs Minister Alamgir Alam said.

While the EC’s decision has not been made public yet, it is being speculated that the poll panel has recommended disqualification of Soren as an MLA from the Assembly.
