10 Dead After Passenger Taxi Falls Into Deep Gorge In J&K's Ramban, Rescue Ops On
A passenger car fell into a deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir's Ramban.
Ten people were reported dead after a passenger taxi fell into a deep gorge on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway near Battery Chashma in Ramban area, said the officials on Friday, according to PTI.
The State Disaster Response Force, police, and civil QRT Ramban reached the spot and rescue operations are underway, the officials added.
According to the report, the vehicle was on its way to Jammu from Srinagar when it fell into a 300-feet gorge at around 1:15 am, the officials said. Bodies of 10 passengers have been recovered amid heavy rains.
As per the officials, the driver of the car, Balwan Singh (47) of Amb Ghrotha in Jammu, and Vipin Mukhiya Bhairagang of West Champaran in Bihar are among the deceased.

"A passenger taxi rolled down a deep gorge on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway near Battery Chashma in Ramban area. Police, SDRF and civil QRT Ramban reached on spot, rescue operation is going on," said the Jammu and Kashmir police.
Earlier this month, four people were killed and two others were injured after the vehicle they were travelling in fell into a gorge in Jammu and Kashmir's Ramban, as per an ANI report.
The accident took place in Ramban's Pogal Paristan area.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed his condolence to the families of the deceased and said that he has issued instructions to provide assistance to the kin of victims.
In a social media post on X, Sinha said: "Deeply shocked to learn of the unfortunate road accident in Ramban in which precious lives have been lost. My heartfelt condolences to bereaved families. I've issued instructions to Dist Admin & Div Com to render all assistance, as provided in the rule, to the kin of victims."
