IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall In TN, Karnataka & Kerala Till August 8

Kerala and Karnataka have also been witnessing heavy rainfall with flooding, landslides and uprooting of trees.

Chennai: Widespread rainfall is expected in Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu till August 8, said India Meteorological Centre on Thursday. The IMD also predicted thundershowers in Northwest India for the next five days.

According to a daily weather report, IMD said, in the next three or four days there will be a shift of a shear zone running over south peninsular India to northwards. The cyclonic circulation was lying over west central and adjoining SW Bay of Bengal off South AP-North TN coasts in lower tropospheric levels in a normal position.

Till August 8, the IMD said, "Heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls at isolated places very likely over coastal and south interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. Heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over North Interior Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe."
