Engineering Student Dies By Electrocution In Tamil Nadu, Family's 'Cover-Up Attempt' Foiled By Police

The victim, Parthiban, 19, was a second-year engineering student from Bojarajan Nagar in Old Washermanpet. He was electrocuted while trying to install a banner for a relative's birthday party.

An engineering student died by electrocution on Monday in Chennai while installing a banner near a transformer for a relative’s birthday party. According to The Times Of India, the victim’s family tried to cover up his death and conduct a funeral in Old Washermanpet. However, the police got information about the death and stopped the funeral. They took possession of the body for a post-mortem examination. 

The victim, Parthiban, 19, was a second-year engineering student from Bojarajan Nagar in Old Washermanpet. On Monday, he visited his relative’s house in Arakkonam and volunteered to erect a banner with a message welcoming people to the birthday party.

The impact of the shock caused Parthiban to be thrown off, and he also suffered burns. Bystanders rushed Prathiban to a hospital, where he was declared dead. His family brought his body back to the Old Washermanpet house and was going to conduct the last rites when the police stepped in, reported TOI.

13-Year-Old Electrocuted While Playing Cricket In Delhi

This comes just days after a 13-year-old boy was electrocuted to death at a cricket ground in outer Delhi's Ranhola area.

Police said they received a PCR call saying the boy suffered a shock from an iron pole supporting electric wires to a gaushala situated in a corner of the ground. The teen was rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) hospital but was declared dead, ANI reported. 

An eyewitness said the 13-year-old was stuck to the pole for at least 15 minutes. He had rushed to the spot when he heard children shouting from the ground. He said a boy told him that his brother got an electric shock from the iron pole. The eyewitness said the boy had already died but remained stuck to the pole.
