Former Samajwadi Party MLA Arrested For Threatening To Blow Up Parliament: Delhi Police

Kishore Samrite was arrested by the Delhi Crime Branch police on Monday.

New Delhi: Kishore Samrite, a former MLA from Samajwadi Party of Lanji assembly constituency of Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh, was arrested by the Delhi Crime Branch police on Monday for allegedly threatening to blow up the Parliament with explosives, said a senior officer as reported by news agency PTI. Kishor Samrite had sent a package containing a threat letter, some flags, a copy of the Constitution and few gelatin sticks, said police.

According to the police, Kishore had written a letter to the central government regarding the problems of the area not being resolved. In that letter, he threatened to blow up the new Parliament House Central Vista in Delhi with a bomb. Kishore, who was elected as an MLA in the year 2008, is currently the President of the Sanyukt Kranti Party.

"He had threatened that if his 70 demands were not met, he would blow up the Parliament House on September 30," said Special Commissioner of Police (Crime), Ravinder Yadav.

Likewise, a case was registered at the Parliament Road police headquarters and a probe was started into the matter.

The accused, a former Samajwadi Party MLA who later joined the Bahujan Samaj Party, was arrested from Bhopal on Monday, said Yadav.

Kishore had first joined the NSUI prior to moving to the Janata Dal. In 2007, he joined the Samajwadi Party and won the by-elections from Lanji.

"He remained an MLA for 10-11 months," the Special CP said.

Yadav said the former legislator was recently booked in a few cases connected with rioting, arson, extortion, etc.

Kishore will be produced before a court in Delhi on Tuesday.
