Police said accused Aman Singh Bisht was planning to move to some other part of North India or to Nepal. A case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered.
New Delhi: The Delhi Police arrested a 26-year-old man from Jaipur on Sunday in connection with the alleged murder of his wife whose body was found at her friend’s house in the capital last week, news agency PTI reported.
Accused Aman Singh Bisht was planning to move to a safer location, possibly to Nepal or some other part of North India, the police were quoted as saying.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi said Bisht is being brought back to Delhi.
He will be thoroughly interrogated to ascertain the exact motive behind the murder, the officer told PTI.
Bisht’s wife Priyanka, 24, was found dead at her friend’s house in north Delhi’s Burari area on Friday.
According to the PTI report, the friend’s mother had informed the police that Bisht called up her daughter on Friday noon saying he wanted her help to buy a saree for Priyanka. Following the phone conversation, the friend, also named Priyanka, told her mother that she was going over to Bisht’s house.
At 7.56 pm, Priyanka Saha called up the police to say she found the body of Priyanka Bisht in her bedroom when she returned home.
“For now, it seems like Priyanka Bisht was strangulated to death. However, the post-mortem report will ascertain the exact cause,” the PTI report quoted a police officer as saying.
A case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at the Burari police station. The DCP said further investigation is underway.
