'Intended To Humiliate Congress': BJP Takes Swipe After Adhir Claims Nyay Yatra Facing 'Roadblocks' In Bengal
The BJP jibe came after Adhir Chowdhury claimed despite having sent applications to the administration over the yatra’s schedule, the party was not being given permission to hold public meetings.
New Delhi: Launching a blistering attack on Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government in Bengal after Congress claimed they were not being given permission to hold rallies during the ongoing Bharat Jodo Nyay yatra, BJP said the decision was taken to “humiliate” the grand old party.
The BJP jibe came hours after Bengal Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury claimed despite having sent applications to the administration over the yatra’s schedule, the party was not being given permission to hold public meetings at some places.
"In some places, we are facing roadblocks as we are not getting permission to organise public meetings, citing exams. The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra has faced problems in the Northeast, including Assam, and now it is facing problems in TMC-ruled West Bengal as well," PTI quoted Chowdhury as saying.
Taking to X, BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya wrote, “Mamata Banerjee’s decision to deny Rahul Gandhi’s Yatra permission is like the last nail in the coffin of I.N.D.I Alliance. The decision is intended to humiliate the Congress. The excuse that it has been done in view of exams is a sham. There is no such compulsion because exams start on 2nd Feb and the Yatra was to enter Siliguri region on 28th Jan!”

Malviya further said the TMC was resorting to such actions as Mamata Banerjee is “nervous” after she announced her party will contest all the Lok Sabha seats in the state alone and she hopes to “remain relevant” after the poll results.
“A nervous Mamata Banerjee is doing all this in the hope that she can contest all seats in West Bengal, to remain relevant after results. But it is interesting to see the Congress suffer from ‘stockholm syndrome’ and continue to plead Mamata Banerjee to join the Yatra for just 5 minutes,” Malviya further wrote.
