Congress Appoints Rajesh Kumar As New Bihar Unit President Ahead Of Assembly Elections
The Congress party appointed Rajesh Kumar as the new president of its Bihar unit, replacing Akhilesh Prasad Singh ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections

Congress on Tuesday appointed Rajesh Kumar as the new president of its Bihar unit. The party removed Akhilesh Prasad Singh ahead of the state assembly polls. Rajesh is an MLA, while Akhilesh Prasad Singh is a Rajya Sabha MP.
"The Congress president has appointed Rajesh Kumar, MLA, as the president of the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee with immediate effect," AICC general secretary (organisation) K C Venugopal said in a statement.
"The party appreciates the contribution of the outgoing PCC president Dr Akhilesh Prasad Singh, MP," the statement said.
The recent development by the Grand Old Party comes soon after the appointment of Krishna Allavaru as in charge of party affairs in the state.
The new appointments in the party's Bihar unit come months ahead of the assembly election in Bihar. The poll in the state is scheduled to be held by the year end. However, the date will only be confirmed after the notification by the Election Commission regarding the poll.
Presently, the state is being led by JDU in coalition with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The chief minister of the state presently is Nitish Kumar.
The state witnessed a full circle in the last years in terms of the political developments. In the last assembly election, the Nitish Kumar-led JDU contested the assembly polls with the BJP and other parties under the umbrella of the NDA coalition. However, he took a turn and jumped off the ship and formed a government with the help of Lalu's RJD, Congress, and left parties. However, he again came back with the NDA, and the state has an NDA government with Nitish Kumar as the chief minister of the state.
