KBC season 16 contestant Nareshi Meena was asked a question about India's legendary tennis player Leela Row Dayal for Rs 1 crore but she failed to answer.

Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), the popular Indian quiz show now in its 16th season, premiered on August 12 with the legendary Amitabh Bachchan returning as host. In the August 22 episode, contestant Nareshi Meena became the first to face the Rs 1 crore question in the season so far. However, she chose to quit before answering. The question, concerning former Indian tennis player Leela Row Dayal, was featured in the latest episode aired on Thursday.

Nareshi Meena, a contestant from Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan, was diagnosed with a brain tumour and she participated in the show to fund her treatment. Despite reaching the Rs 1 crore question, she couldn't answer it and took home Rs 50 lakh.

The question she was asked by Amitabh Bachchan for Rs 1 crore was, "Whom did Leela Row Dayal beat to become the first Indian woman to win a singles match at the Wimbledon Tennis Championship?"

The options were A. Lottie Dod B. Gladys Southwell C. May Sutton and D. Kitty Godfree. The correct answer was Gladys Southwell.

The correct answer to the question was Gladys Southwell.

Without any lifelines left, Nareshi was unable to answer the Rs 1 crore question and she chose to quit the show and took home Rs 50 lakh as her prize.

Who Is Leela Rao Dayal - Former Indian Tennis Player?

Leela Rao Dayal was an iconic Indian tennis player, dancer and writer, born on December 19, 1911. She made history as the first Indian woman to win a match at the Wimbledon Championships in 1934, defeating Gladys Southwell. She also reached the second round of the French Open in 1935 after several attempts. Domestically, Leela dominated Indian tennis, winning seven singles titles at the All India Championships and securing the West of India Championships title in 1931. In 1935, she won the Hampshire Tennis Championships in England. In addition to her tennis achievements, Dayal authored several books on Indian classical dance in both English and Sanskrit.
