Tokyo Olympics 2021 To Take Place Without Foreign Spectators

The Japanese government has decided to exclude foreign spectators from attending the Tokyo Olympics to prevent the spread of Corona virus.

The Japan government has decided that the Tokyo Olympics 2021 will take place without the overseas spectators. The government has taken this decision to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus. Kyodo news agency reported this on Tuesday citing Japanese officials. The news agency reported that the government has ‘concluded that welcoming fans from abroad is not possible given concerns among the Japanese public over the coronavirus’.

The total number of spectators who will be allowed to watch the games from the stadium is yet to be decided. It will be decided in April. Earlier it was also reported that the torch relay ceremony will take place without any spectators at the stadium. Only participants and invitees would be allowed in the opening ceremony to avoid crowding during the event.

"We would really like people from around the world to come to a full stadium, but unless we are prepared to accept them and the medical situation in Japan is perfect, it will cause a great deal of trouble also to visitors from overseas," Hashimoto, the President of the Tokyo Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games told the reporters.

The Olympic games will take place between July 23 and August 8 2021.
