Rahul Dravid Applies For Team India's Head Coach Position & VVS Laxman As NCA Head: Report
The tenure of the current India head coach Ravi Shastri is ending after the T20 World Cup. Dravid can take over as the head coach of Team India after the World Cup gets over.
New Delhi: In what comes as one the biggest positive for future of cricket in India, ex-India skipper Rahul Dravid has applied for the position of Indian cricket team's head coach, news agency ANI reported. As per media reports, Dravid has agreed to become the head coach of Team India after the T20 World Cup. Recently, Dravid was associated with Team India as head coach in the limited overs series against Sri Lanka. The tenure of the current India head coach Ravi Shastri is ending after the T20 World Cup. Dravid can take over as the head coach of Team India after the World Cup gets over.
The report in ANI also suggested that ex-India batsman VV Laxman is in the race to take over Rahul Dravid as National Cricket Academy (NCA) head.
"Yes, Dravid has applied for the position of Team India head coach and Laxman is definitely in the race to take over as NCA head. Talks are on and we have to see how it goes," a source told ANI.
Rahul Dravid, the current NCA head, has plenty of experience and under his supervision many young players from the NCA have left their mark in international cricket. Reportedly, Rahul had also met BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Jay Shah in Dubai during the IPL final.
Rahul Dravid had earlier refused to become the coach, but after many efforts by the BCCI, he agreed to it. BCCI sources told ABP News that Rahul Dravid can get a contract till the year 2023. Dravid is currently the coach of the Indian junior team and heads the National Cricket Academy.
