'Yeh Jalti Pe Tel Daalna...Don't Do It': Wasim Akram On Shami-Akhtar Twitter Feud

Former Pakistani pacer Wasim Akram, during a conversation on Pakistan's channel A Sports, urged current and former cricketers to be neutral.

New Delhi: During the T20 World Cup 2022, battles were not just fought on cricket field but also on social media. Fans and former cricketers, especially from India and Pakistan, were indulged in an intense 'war of words', mostly on Twitter. One such online banter which garnered a lot of attention on social media was the online banter between Mohammed Shami and Shoaib Malik following Pakistan's loss to England in ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 final, Sunday.

Moments after England won the T20 World Cup, Mohammed Shami took to Twitter to take a dig at Shoaib Malik. Shami replied to Akhtar's 'heartbroken' tweet by writing," Sorry brother it's call karma", referring to Pakistan's T20 WC final loss.

Former Pakistani pacer Wasim Akram, during a conversation on Pakistan's channel A Sports, urged current and former cricketers to be neutral.

“We should stay neutral. Indians are patriotic about their their country, and I'm fine with that, we are patriotic about our country. But instead of that, jalti pe tel daalna, tweet pe tweet karna, just don't do it man,” the veteran said.

Ex-Pakistan skipper Misbah ul Haq, who was also part of the discussion, added, “You shouldn't do this just for the sake of few 'Likes'. Cricketers, whether from India or Pakistan or any other country, we are all a family. So we should respect each other and give our opinions respectfully. We also have a certain responsibility.”

England beat Pakistan to lift their 2nd World Cup trophy!

England, Sunday, defeated Pakistan by five wickets in the T20 World Cup 2022 final at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground to lift their second World Cup trophy. By the virtue of this win, England became the only team in cricket history to win both T20I and ODI World Cup finals. Sam Curran (3 wickets) and Ben Stokes emerged as the star performers for their team in the high-octane clash.
