RECORD: KL Rahul hits fastest T20I century by an Indian

Lauderhill: KL Rahul scored the fastest century by an Indian batsman in Twenty20 international cricket but couldn’t guide India past West Indies’ score as Men in Blue fell short by one run here on Saturday. Rahul, who came to bat at No. 4, completed his maiden T20I century in just 46 balls to claim the record. However, he missed the world record by a whisker. Rahul remained unbeaten on 110 from 51 balls with the help of 5 sixes and 12 fours. South Africa’s Richard Lewis, who hit century in 45 balls, holds the record of fastest century in T20Is. West Indies batsman, Evin Lewis also hit a 48-ball century in this match. It was the 5th fastest in T20Is and second fastest by a West Indian. Chris Gayle's 47-ball ton against England is fastest for West Indies.
