Ousmane Dembele Set To Sign New Contract With FC Barcelona Binding Till 2024
Ousmane Dembele has reportedly agreed to sign a new two-year deal as he looks to pen the deal in the coming week.
New Delhi: According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Ousmane Dembele will be signing a new contract that will keep him at the club till June 2024. The deal will see the French international take a pay cut as he intended to stay and deliver to Barcelona. FC Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez has openly admitted that he wants Dembele. The coach has said that as he has some plans for Dembele for the upcoming season.
Signed in 2017, injuries and unprofessional attitude in training have cost Dembele a lot of playing time and he only came to his personal best once Xavi took over the reins from former head coach Ronald Koeman, as he joined an elite list of Barcelona players to register double figures for assists in a season.
Joan Laporta eyes to make Raphinha his third signing of the season after Christensen and Kessie, as the 25-year-old Brazilian international is reportedly pushing for the move. According to Fabrizio Romano, Leeds United hasn’t reached terms with FC Barcelona as Chelsea are in running contention to sign the Brazilian and are constantly matching offers of FC Barcelona.
Xavi looks to add firepower to his attack as Trincao is departing FC Barcelona for Sporting Lisbon as they have reached full agreement with Barcelona for a reportedly €10m fee, which will be paid in installments. The 50% will be paid in one year. Also, Bayern and FC Barcelona haven’t agreed on terms for Lewandowski even when he openly admitted he wants to leave Bayern and wants to join the Blaugrana.
The debt situation has forced the Catalan giants to make a major pay cut for players with higher salaries and the club looks to balance its books by cutting done the annual wage bill in order to avoid further adversities, and this has led the 5-time European Champions to make some tough decisions and that includes the sale of their starlet Frenkie De Jong as Manchester United, under new coach Erik Ten Hag, are continuously pursuing the deal for the Dutch international.
“Frenkie de Jong is a Barcelona player - we don’t want to sell him unless we have no other choice. Of-course we know there are offers for De Jong - but we don’t want to sell him,” said Joan Laporta, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
