Neeraj Chopra Clinches Javelin Throw Title At Golden Spike Meet In Czech Republic

The reigning Olympic and world champion delivered a best throw of 87.80 metres.

India’s star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra added another feather to his cap by winning the men’s javelin throw title at the Golden Spike 2025 athletics meet held in Ostrava, Czech Republic. The reigning Olympic and world champion delivered a best throw of 85.29m metres, securing the top spot in a highly competitive field.

The Golden Spike meet is part of the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold series and is known for attracting some of the best athletes from across the globe. Neeraj lived up to expectations yet again, showcasing his consistency and champion mindset with a solid series of throws.

Neeraj Chopra Continues Winning Streak

With this victory, Chopra extended his incredible streak of finishing in the top two for the 24th consecutive competition, further cementing his status as one of the sport’s most consistent performers.

This win also marks Chopra’s second consecutive triumph this season, following his gold-medal-winning performance at the Paris Diamond League earlier this month. The reigning world and Olympic champion looked in fine rhythm throughout the event, asserting his dominance against a strong field.

South Africa’s Douw Smit put up a strong challenge, registering a top throw of 84.12 metres, which came in his earlier attempts. His final throw of 81.90m wasn’t enough to surpass Chopra, and he had to settle for second place.

Grenada’s Anderson Peters, the 2019 world champion, also fought hard but could only manage a best of 83.63 metres. His final attempt of 81.53m ensured he stayed in third position as the competition concluded.

Neeraj continues to inspire millions

With this win, Neeraj continues to inspire millions back home and strengthen India’s presence on the international athletics stage.

This victory serves as a strong build-up for Neeraj. His performance in Ostrava further solidifies his position as one of the top contenders in the global javelin circuit.
