LIVE SCORE India Vs Australia 2nd Test Day 2: Australia take 48-run lead at stumps on day 2

LIVE SCORECARD

A very good day from the Australian point of view. The batsmen have stepped into the act whenever they were called for. Every batsmen except Mitchell Marsh spent time in the middle which proved to be the difference between the two teams. Marsh and Renshaw both managed to bag half centuries each which kept the hosts always under pressure. With the lead always increasing, the visitors will want to pile up as much more runs as possible to tilt the game totally in their favour. A sensational session for the Australians where they lost a single wicket in the last 27 overs and also managed to score 74 runs. Shaun Marsh played brilliantly to reach to his 6th Test fifty before throwing away his wicket to Umesh Yadav. Starc and Wade managed to see off the day which means that the Aussies still lead by 48 runs with 4 wickets in hand. #WICKET Umesh Yadav to Shaun Marsh, OUT! Marsh throws it away! Fuller length on the stumps, Marsh looks to clip it through but fails to keep it down. The ball flies into the hands of Karun Nair at short mid-wicket who takes the catch easily. That came off the inner half of the bat. India get a wicket towards the fag end of the day. Australia's lead is 31 runs! The second new ball is available for India along with two new reviews. They will want to come hard at the visitors, they don't have any option to be honest. The Australians will want to bat and first wipe out the deficit and get a substantial lead. Another riveting session of Test cricket awaits us. Join us in a short while. Jadeja was held back for long, for some reason and it was he who did the most of the damage. Renshaw hit him for a six but was stumped in the same over. Peter Handscomb came out positively but was superbly snapped by Ashwin at mid-wicket. The deficit for Australia though is only 26 runs and they will know the more they bat, the less they have to chase in the final innings here. A superb finish to another very good session of Test cricket. India have just managed to stay in the game with the last wicket and it has been hard work for all. Shaun Marsh and Matt Renshaw batted with grit and determination for Australia. Renshaw got to his fifty and as Australia inched closer to the Indian total, the shots began to come from the visitors. That was probably what cost them a couple of wickets too. Ishant Sharma to Mitchell Marsh, OUT! ISHANT STRIKES! Full delivery angling into the stumps, the ball stays really low. Mitchell Marsh tries to clip it on the leg side but he cannot counter the low bounce as he gets rapped really low on his pads. The players appeal in unison and the umpire raises his finger in agreement. Ishant Sharma is totally fired up as he has struck just before Tea which could very well help the hosts to shift momentum back in their favour. THAT'S TEA ON DAY 2. Australia 161/4. S Marsh 39, M Marsh 0 Ravindra Jadeja to Peter Handscomb, OUT! JADEJA STRIKES! Floated delivery down the leg side, Handscomb comes down the track again and tries to flick it. This time he is unable to find the desired contact as the ball goes straight towards the fielder at mid-wicket. Ashwin dives towards his right and gets his hand to it, the ball fumbles out but luckily it again hit his arm and bounced again which helped him gather it in the second chance. Finally some luck going the Indian's way. Australia trail by 29 runs. Ravindra Jadeja to Matt Renshaw, OUT! Jadeja has the last laugh! Renshaw was again charging down the track and Jadeja sees him coming as he fires this one down the leg side. Renshaw cannot find contact there and the ball goes straight to Saha who is quick to dislodge the bails before Renshaw can get in. The young batsman has to walk back after a promising knock and India will want to pounce on this opportunity. Australia 107/2.  Renshaw 44. S March 14 The deficit is still 102 runs and on this deck it is a lot. India will want to keep taking wickets at regular intervals and not allow Australia to get away with the game. The visitors on the other hand, will aim to build their innings well. It promises to be an exciting day of cricket. Join us in a while for the second session of play. Steven Smith and Matt Renshaw fought it out, countering the spin and low bounce on offer. Both the pacers for India, Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav were brilliant. Ravindra Jadeja was held back but when he came in, he got rid of the big fish in Smith just before the break. Renshaw has fought well and will aim to continue his good work. Australia have only managed 47 runs in the session but they know they can score many if they play out some tight overs from India. Remember, the hosts only have four regular bowlers so they are bound to get tired at some point. A top session of cricket! Both teams came out with a lot of intent. Australia wanting to bat well in best batting conditions, India desperate to get back in the game with wickets. Ashwin got the first breakthrough, going past the defence of David Warner early and the rest of his teammates backed him up with tight overs. Australia 87/2 (Renshaw 40) at Lunch on Day 2. Trail India by 102 runs Ravindra Jadeja to Steven Smith, OUT! Smith departs and that's a massive wicket for India! Jadeja bowls this one a bit quicker through the air which spins gingerly and takes Smith by surprise. There is a thick inside edge which first hits the pads and then balloons in the air towards forward short leg. Saha is quick to react as he rushes to the ball and takes a fine catch. The players appeal and Smith has already started walking. Just what the wicket the Indians needed. Australia 78/1.  Renshaw 34. Smith 7 Ravichandran Ashwin to David Warner, OUT! The ploy works! Ashwin lands it on leg, the ball spins across Warner who is on his back foot wanting to defend that one. The ball goes past his bat and crashes into the stumps. The crowd roars as Ashwin takes off, he needed that wicket and so did India. Just the start India would have wanted. Australia 50/0. Warner 32, Renshaw 16. Australia 40/0. Warner 25, Renshaw 15. India 189 all out Pitch Report - Sunil Gavaskar says that he was surprised with the amount of turn he witnessed yesterday. Points out to the parts of the pitch where the cracks are quite open and visible. Also feels that Ashwin needs to change his lengths on a wicket such as this. Reckons that the Indians need to choke runs from one end as it is a really good wicket to bat on, from that end. Brett Lee adds that Lyon bowled on a length which was comparatively shorter to that bowled by Ashwin. Also emphasizes on the fact that Australia have six last left-handed batsmen compared to India who have only two. Mentions the fact that the speed at which Lyon bowled yesterday and the revs he gave was the difference between him and the other bowlers. Hello and a warm welcome for the day 2 of the second Test match between India and Australia. Unlike most pundits, Australia have been the dominating force from the day they faced the Indian team in Pune. They made life even difficult for the hosts yesterday by bundling them out for a mere 189 and also played out half of the last session without any trouble. India, on the other hand, will want to bounce back with a complete bowling performance as they look to put the pressure back on the visitors. Will the game tilt more in Australia's favour or will the hosts bounce back to make it even? Join us in a while for the morning session of the second day.
