Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to reschedule the 30th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore after two Kolkata Knight Riders players Varun Chakaravarthy and Sandeep Warrior tested positive for COVID-19.

"Varun and Sandeep tested positive and that made the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) camp wary of the situation. The KKR vs RCB game is set to be postponed," the official said

As per the sources, at least five players in KKR camp, including Australian star bowler Pat Cummins fell ill ahead of their match against Bangalore. Twenty IPL games have already been played this season. Kolkata's last IPL game was against Delhi Capitals in Ahmedabad on April 29.

Australian cricketers Kane Richardson, Andrew Tye and Adam Zampa cut short their IPL 2021 journey by opting to withdraw from the tournament early amid Covid scare and fly back to Australia. Aussie PM Scott Morrison has also announced a ban on incoming flights from India till May 15 due to the grim Covid situation in the country.

According to the Union Health Ministry, India on Sunday registered 3,68,147 new Covid-19 cases and 3,417 related deaths in the last 24 hours, pushing the cumulative Covid cases count up to 1,99,25,604.
