Karun Nair to replace injured Dhawan for third India-NZ Test

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday announced promising opening batsman Karun Nair as a replacement for injured Shikhar Dhawan.

Dhawan was ruled out for the third Test against New Zealand after sustaining a minor fracture on his left hand during the second Test, which India clinched by a whopping 178-run margin.

"The All-India senior selection committee have named batsman Karun Nair as replacement for injured opener Shikhar Dhawan in the Indian team. Dhawan has been ruled out of the third Test of the series against New Zealand after he sustained a minor fracture on his left hand," BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke said in a statement.

Having already clinched the series 2-0, India will take on the Kiwis in the final Test starting on October 8 in Indore.
