ISSF Junior World Championship: 14-year-Old Namya Kapoor Scripts History, Wins Gold In 25 Meter Pistol Event

ISSF Junior World Championship: Namya has won the gold medal in the 25-meter pistol event. Manu Bhaker has won three gold medals so far at this Junior World Shooting Championships.

ISSF Junior World Championship: India's 14-year-old shooter Namya Kapoor created history by winning a gold medal at the ISSF Junior World Shooting Championships on Monday. Namya won the gold medal in the 25 meter pistol event. She won the gold, surpassing India's star shooter Manu Bhaker, who had participated in the Tokyo Olympics. 

Namya Kapoor won the gold medal in the 25-meter pistol event played at the ISSF Junior World Shooting Championships yesterday with a score of 36 points in the final. In the final, France's Camille Jedrzejewski won silver, with 33 points and Manu Bhaker, 19, won a bronze medal with 31 points. 

Manu Bhaker misses out on the silver in the shoot-off

Manu Bhaker has won three gold medals so far at the ISSF Junior World Shooting Championships held in Peru's capital Lima. In yesterday's 25-meter pistol event, Bhaker had a chance to win silver. But she missed the silver medal in the shoot-off match with France's Camille Jedrzejewski. Another Indian shooter, Rhythm Sangwan, finished fourth in the event. 

In the qualification round of this event, Manu Bhaker qualified for the final with 587 points while Sangwan finished second with 586 points, while Kapoor made it to the final with 580 points in the sixth position.  

India tops medal tally. 

India is currently in the top position in the medal tally of the ISSF Junior World Shooting Championships. India has so far won seven gold, six silver, and three bronze medals in the tournament. This is the first event since the Tokyo Olympics. 370 athletes from 32 countries are participating in the championship.
