Vignesh Puthur ruled out of IPL 2025; MI Announce Replacement
Mumbai Indians, currently on a five-match winning streak in IPL 2025, face a setback with Vignesh Puthur being ruled out, as he had performed well in his limited appearances this season.

Mumbai Indians (MI) have suffered a major setback with spinner Vignesh Puthur ruled out for the remainder of the IPL 2025 season due to injury. The wrist spinner, who made his debut in the season opener against Chennai Super Kings, earned praise for his variations & drive on the field.
In his five appearances for Mumbai Indians, Puthur picked up six wickets, comprising a three-wicket haul against arch-rivals CSK. With a bowling average of 18.16, he stands second only to Will Jacks for the best average in the squad this season, while his impressive strike rate of 12 ranks among the top in the team.
Following Puthur’s injury, Mumbai Indians have signed right-arm leg-spinner Raghu Sharma as his replacement. The 32-year-old, who has represented Punjab and Puducherry in domestic cricket, took 57 wickets in 11 first-class matches, with an average of 19.59 and impressive figures of 7/57.

As far as white-ball format is concerned, Raghu has featured in 9 List-A matches, claiming 14 wickets with best figures of 4/37. In the shortest format, he has played just three matches, taking as many wickets. The Hardik Pandya led-side have secured his services for his base price of Rs 30 lakh.
Mumbai Indians will take on Rajasthan Royals today in the 50th match of IPL 2025 & would aim to extend their five-match winning streak. With 12 points, the five-time champions sit in third place and have an opportunity to top the table with a win. However, MI have not secured victory at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur since 2012.
