'God Is God Even If...': Navjot Singh Sidhu's Poetic Take On Rohit Sharma-Hardik Pandya MI Captaincy Row- WATCH

Navjot Singh Sidhu was at his poetic best when sharing his views on the Rohit Sharma-Hardik Pandya MI captaincy row.

Navjot Singh Sidhu, the ex-India cricketer, has returned to commentary box in IPL 2024. While there was a lot of anticipation for his comeback, he has not disappapointing, entertaining and engaging the fans with his impromptu couplets, poetries and command of the Hindi language infused with Punjabi phrases from time to time. Sidhu had a rather epic take on the entire Rohit Sharma-Hardik Pandya MI captaincy debate.

Notably, Rohit Sharma, Mumbai Indians' five-times championship winning captain was replaced by Hardik Pandya before IPL 2024. Sidhu shared his own experience from his playing days and said that when he was part of the Indian team at least five players had captaincy experience. He even went on to say that playing under Hardik will not make Rohit a small player.

"I have played in an Indian team where five captains used to pay together. Kapil Dev, Dilip Vengsarkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Krishnamachari Srikkanth and Ravi Shastri. Pick up a brick and you will find a captain both above and below it. There were no issues because they were playing for their nation. The motivation was to play for your country. So, playing under Hardik does not make Rohit smaller," Sidhu said on Star Sports.

"Dhoni has passed the baton already and that could have happened in Mumbai Indians as well. But this is a franchise and they look at the performances. They gave it three years and when it did not work, they got a new person for the job. You need to accept it. But Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni are great players," he added before adding a poetic touch: "A dwarf is a dwarf even if he is standing at the top of a mountain and a God is a God even if they are standing at the bottom of a well," he stated.

MI To Take SRH In Hyderabad On March 27

As far as MI's IPL 2024 season is concerned, despite playing under a new captain they could not break the jink of losing their season opener in every season since IPL 2013. MI lost to Gujarat Titans (GT) in their first match by 6 runs. They will now face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their second away game on the trot later on March 27 (Wednesday).
