400 Not Out! Dhoni Reaches T20 Landmark, Follows 3 Indian Legends

MS Dhoni reached a major milestone as he stepped onto the field for his 400th T20 match.

The 43rd match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is underway at the iconic Chepauk Stadium, featuring a high-stakes clash between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad. The spotlight, however, is firmly on MS Dhoni, who has etched his name into the history books once again.

MS Dhoni creates T20 history

On Friday, April 25, MS Dhoni reached a major milestone as he stepped onto the field for his 400th T20 match. With this achievement, he becomes only the fourth Indian cricketer to play 400 or more matches in the T20 format.

Here's the list of Indians with the most T20 appearances:

Rohit Sharma – 456 matches

Dinesh Karthik – 412 matches

Virat Kohli – 408 matches

MS Dhoni – 400 matches (as of today)

A look at MS Dhoni's T20 career

Before today's match, Dhoni had featured in 399 T20 games, scoring 7,566 runs at an average of 38.02 and a strike rate of 135.90, including 28 half-centuries.

In the Indian Premier League alone, Dhoni has played 272 matches, scoring 3,900 runs with a strike rate of 137.88 and an average of 38.96, including 24 fifties.
