IPL 2025: MS Dhoni’s Helicopter Shot Off Pathirana Sets Internet On Fire — WATCH

MS Dhoni wowed fans with a vintage helicopter shot off Matheesha Pathirana during CSK's practice session ahead of IPL 2025. Watch the viral video here:

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) icon MS Dhoni thrilled fans by unleashing his trademark helicopter shot off teammate Matheesha Pathirana's yorker during a practice session ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The two-time World Cup-winning captain has now joined the CSK camp to intensify his preparations for the upcoming season of the cash-rich league, that begins from March 22 (Saturday) with a match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

Dhoni, 43, last played competitive cricket nearly 10 months ago when he turned up for CSK in IPL 2024. However, he looked in sublime touch as the veteran wicketkeeper rolled back the years with his iconic helicopter shot against Pathirana, the video of which has gone viral on the internet. Dhoni deposited one of Pathirana's yorkers over the bowler's head and the ropes.

In IPL 2024, Dhoni displayed his trademark power-hitting and finishing skills whenever he came out to bat, entertaining the massive crowds that flocked to catch a glimpse of the legendary former India captain, who is possibly in the final stretch of his IPL career.

CSK retained Dhoni as an uncapped player for ₹4 crore ahead of last year’s mega auction, a strategic move that also allowed the franchise to retain key players like Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravindra Jadeja for higher amounts.

Chennai Super Kings, under the leadership of Ruturaj Gaikwad, will kick off their IPL 2025 campaign at home against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians on Sunday (March 23), followed by a clash against southern rivals Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) a few days later.
