IPL 2024: Shivam Dube, Rachin Ravindra Architect CSK's Dominant Win Over GT

Chennai Super Kings secure second win of IPL 2024 with defeat of GT. Here are the details.

CSK Vs GT: Chennai Super Kings continue their impressive run in IPL 2024 as they continue to topple sides after sides and have registered two wins out of their two matches in the tournament so far. CSK won the fixture against GT by 63 runs at the Chepaux on Tuesday, March 26, and will now travel away to face Delhi Capitals on March 31.

Speaking after the defeat, GT skipper Shuhbman Gill pointed out the flaws in his side that were present in today's fixture and ensured the fans that there are "exciting times" in line to come for them.

"We were outplayed. I think CSK's execution with the ball was excellent. We wanted big runs in the PowerPlay, but failed to do so. We were expecting to chase anywhere between 190-200, but we can talk about how we could've stopped a few more boundaries. I think it's a great learning curve for the team. Better to have such a game at the start of the tournament. We let ourselves down with the batting. Experiencing lot of different things. We have had two finals in the past two years. Exciting times ahead," said Shubman Gill.

However, Ruturaj Gaikwad was delighted as he registered his second win as CSK captain and the side are looking formiddable.

"Today's game was near to perfect game in the sense of batting, bowling, fielding all three departments. It was right on the target and especially against a team like Gujarat we needed to come up with this type of performance. I think in Chennai especially when you are not really sure about how the wicket will be, it's always important that you bat well irrespective of whether you are batting first or batting second," said Gaikwad.

"I thought personally Rachin batted brilliantly in the powerplay, took the game away, and then from there on I think we were always ahead of them. It was just about managing wickets and managing risk and I feel even Jinks played a good role and even Shivam played brilliantly, and not to forget Rizvi," the CSK skipper added.

Shivam Dube was awarded the man of the match for his exceptional half-century and said the following in his post-match presentation ceremony:

"Definitely this franchise is something different from all others. So this franchise is giving me the freedom as I feel they want me to do it better and I also want them to win some matches from my side. I worked in that way as well so it is helping me. And I know they're going to bowl me on some short balls over there so I'm ready for that. They want me to go on a higher strike rate against the bowlers. So I'm trying that only."
