"...If We Had Some Faltu Team": Virat Kohli's Honest Take On RCB's IPL Status

RCB began their IPL 2023 campaign by securing a phenomenal win in the tournament opener and that too against five-time IPL winners Mumbai Indians (MI).

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are yet to win an Indian Premier League (IPL) title and the highest run-getter in the tournament's history, Virat Kohli, is key to their title chances. The Bangalore-based franchise kicked-off their IPL 2023 campaign by securing a phenomenal win in the tournament opener and that too against five-time IPL winners Mumbai Indians (MI).

Meanwhile, in a candid conversation with Mr. Nags (played by Danish Sait) on the RCB Insider Show, Virat Kohli discussed their team's incomparable social media performance.

"Our social media performance is miles ahead of everyone. Get a trophy there, then watch. You bring one social media trophy and see how RCB will win. No competition only. Two weeks into the tournament, we will win. Don't need to play the last few games; 4-5 enough," Kohli said.

RCB women's team, captained by Smriti Mandhana, won just two games in inaugural WPL and finished the five-team T20 league at number 4, which led to fans drawing comparisons of RCB women's team to men's team as despite all the big names and everything going in their way, even the men's team of RCB are yet to win an IPL final.

Mr Nags asked Kohli about his thoughts on the same to which the former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper said, "This is big franchise pressure. A lot of people take it as fun and games, 'this team doesn't win. Come play when you have so much expectations, we are a big team otherwise, why would we have so many fans if we had some faltu team?"

RCB started their IPL campaign on a positive note but at the same time, the franchise has been hit by injuries this year around and still have a long way to go in the T20 tournament.
