IPL 2023: Ravi Bishnoi Reveals Why He Missed Class 12th Board Exams

The Rajasthan-based bowler further added on the difficulties his father faced when he opted for cricket rather than giving priority on studies.

Lucknow Super Giants wrist spinner Ravi Bishnoi opened up about a few of his cricketing anecdotes ahead of the IPL 2023. He revealed that he missed out on his 12th board exams to take part as a net bowler of Rajasthan Royals during the 2018 Indian Premier League season.

“I missed Class XIIth boards as I was a net bowler with Rajasthan Royals. My father was called me and sternly asked me to come back but the coach told me that I will have to be here. Then I decided to skip the boards that year but finished it next year,” Bishnoi spoke on the LSG’s podcast ahead of the IPL 2023.

The Rajasthan-based bowler further added on the difficulties his father faced when he opted for cricket rather than giving priority on his studies.

“At the age of 10, I joined a cricket academy and when I turned 15, I decided to give up on my studies. I was not getting time from cricket.

“It was difficult to convince the parents. My coaches then told my father to let me continue with cricket because of my talent,” he said.

The 22-year-old was the highest wicket-taker in the 2020 U-19 World Cup. However, Bangladesh won the match by three wickets to clinch their maiden U-19 World Cup Trophy.

“In the U-19 WC final, they were sledging our batters a lot, and they did cross the line, and when our turn came we returned the favour,” he said.

“After the win, they crossed the line. They started mocking us on our faces, and in the heat of the moment, I also said few things that I am not very proud of.

“After that final, I have never sledged anyone,” he said.

In the IPL 2023, Lucknow Super Giants will kickstart its campaign by playing against the Delhi Capitals on April 1.
