IPL 2023: Nitish Rana, Hrithik Shokeen Fined For On Field Heated Argument During KKR Vs MI Clash

Rana accepted the level 1 Offence under 2.21 of the IPL's Code of Conduct, as per the IPL release.

After the on-field spat with Mumbai Indians' Hrithik Shokeen, KKR skipper Nitish Rana has been fined by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. The Incident transpired on the first ball of the 9th over during the MI vs KKR clash where Shokeen and Rana were involved in a verbal spat after the KKR skipper got out. It was so serious that the other players had to intervene to stop the banter. As a result, Rana was given a 25% fine on his match fee.

Rana accepted the level 1 Offence under 2.21 of the IPL's Code of Conduct, as per the IPL release. Since it was Shokeen’s fault also, he was also fined 10 percent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Regarding the match, Gujarat Titans were pushed to bat first and did not start well as two of their crucial batters Wriddhiman Saha (4) and young Sai Sudarshan (20) were sent to the pavilion early. Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya took the onus on their shoulders as they built a 59-run stand to keep their team alive in the match. Coming down the order, David Miller and Abhinav Manohar (27 off 13) also played useful hands and helped their side reach 177 for seven.

In reply, Rajasthan Royals lost their openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler, early in the match but then it was the skipper Sanju Samson (32-ball 60) who held the fort and a late blitz from Shimron Hetmyer  (26-ball 56) did the rest. Rajasthan ended up winning the game by three wickets.
