IPL 2022: 'Won't Be Playing For Sunrisers Hyderabad Anymore,' Says David Warner

Former Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner shared that he has decided to make a new beginning by enlisting for the upcoming IPL player auction.

Indian Premier League 2022: The auction for next season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is scheduled to be held soon. According to the report, the IPL 2022 auction would be held in late November or early December this year. In a statement to SEN Radio, former Sunrisers Hyderabad captain and veteran batsman David Warner said that he would be making a new beginning by enlisting for the upcoming IPL player auction.

David Warner, who led Sunrisers Hyderabad to victory during IPL 2016 said, "I would definitely be enlisting for the upcoming player auction, as I have no expectations of retainment at Sunrisers Hyderabad. I would be making a fresh start next season."

Warner's performance has been poor in recent times. He said, "I haven't yet received any clarification from Sunrisers Hyderabad on my inclusion or exclusion from the team. I have spent eight seasons with this team. I am proud to have led the team to victory during IPL 2016."

This is how Warner performed during IPL 2021:

Warner's performance was quite below average during IPL 2021, and that is why he was dropped from the Playing XI during the second half of the tournament. He was earlier dropped as team captain due to poor performance and bad decisions. In the eight matches Sunrisers Hyderabad played during IPL 2021, Warner was able to score just 195 runs with an average of 24.37 and a strike rate of 107.73.

Warner is currently in the UAE, playing for Australia in the T20 World Cup.
