Rohit Sharma Fined Rs 24 Lakh For Slow Over Rate. Will Be Banned For One Match If Occurred Again

IPL 2022, MI vs PBKS: If Rohit Sharma is charged one more time for slow over-rate, then he will be banned for one match and also face a fine of Rs. 30 lakh.

IPL 2022: Mumbai Indians' skipper, Rohit Sharma has been fined Rs. 24 Lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate during the clash between MI and Punjab Kings (PBKS), on Wednesday.

This is the second time that MI has been fined for slow over-rate. Mumbai Indians' captain was fined Rs. 12 Lakh after the opening match against Delhi Capitals (DC). If Rohit Sharma is charged one more time for slow over-rate, then he will be banned for one match and also face a fine of Rs. 30 lakh.

"This was the team’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences. Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma was fined Rs 24 lakhs and the rest of the members in the playing eleven were fined Rs 6 lakhs or 25 percent of their match fee, whichever is lower," read a statement by IPL.

Mumbai Indians faced their fifth consecutive defeat in this year's IPL. They are the only team in IPL 15 to not have won a single match so far. Rohit Sharma was disappointed after the match and said that the team needs to "go back to the drawing room" and change the strategies.

"We aren't playing good cricket, we need to understand some situations and execute according to it," Rohit Sharma said.

"The pitch was good to bat on and I thought 198 was chaseable. As I said earlier, we need to go back to the drawing room and come back better prepared," he added.
