Can Delhi Capitals Still Qualify For IPL 2024 Playoffs? All You Need To Know

The fate of Delhi Capitals (DC) depends on the results of crucial matches involving Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

IPL 2024 Playoffs qualification scenario for Delhi Capitals: Delhi Capitals (DC) suffered a significant setback in their quest for a spot in the IPL 2024 playoffs with a 47-run loss to RCB on May 12. Despite this defeat, DC still cling to hopes of playoff contention, as they are yet to be officially eliminated.

DC's IPL 2024 playoffs qualification hopes heavily depend on the outcome of their final league stage match against LSG on Tuesday (May 14).

Can Delhi Capitals (DC) still qualify for IPL 2024 Playoffs?

As of now, Delhi Capitals (DC) occupy the 6th position in the points table with 12 points from 13 matches, with a less-than-ideal net run rate of -0.482. To enhance their chances, DC must clinch victory in their final league stage match against Lucknow Super Giants, which would propel them to 14 points and also provide an opportunity to improve their net run rate.

If CSK and SRH both win in their remaining league stage matches, reaching a tally of 16 points, DC's chances of playoff qualification would be over, as their maximum achievable points would be capped at 14.

However, should CSK and SRH lose their final league stage matches, while DC triumphs over LSG and LSG, in turn, manages to upset Mumbai Indians (MI), then only DC will have a chance to qualify for IPL 2024 playoffs.

In this scenario, all four teams—DC, SRH, CSK, and LSG—would end the league stage with 14 points each and then the Net Run Rate (NRR) would come into play.

The two teams boasting superior net run rates among the quartet would qualify for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 playoffs.
