The 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) will begin on 31st March. The tournament opener will be played between Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings and defending champions Gujarat Titans.
41-year-old Dhoni, who retired from international cricket in August 2020, led Chennai Super Kings to a title win in 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021. CSK had a disappointing season last year as they lost 10 out of 14 matches in IPL 2023.
CSK roped in England Test captain Ben Stokes and New Zealand star pacer Kyle Jamieson in IPL 2023 auction, earlier this year. While there are still doubts over Jamieson's availability for the tournament due to his back injury, Stokes recently confirmed his participation in IPL 2023.
