Maxwell, after his IPL debut in 2012 for Delhi, was included by Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2013. This was the same year when Mumbai Indians clinched their maiden IPL title under Rohit Sharma's captaincy. Maxwell was a part of the Punjab Kings, earlier known as Kings XI Punjab, from 2014 to 2017, during which he also captained the team.
In 2018, Delhi again included him in its camp. In 2019-20, Maxwell again joined Punjab, but after a poor performance in UAE, the franchise left him. RCB acquired him for the very first time in 2021 and now Maxwell has been a part of the Bangalore-based franchise for two years.
