Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan Have 'Relaxed A Little Bit' After Getting India Cap: Sunil Gavaskar

Both Suryakumar and Ishan are struggling to score runs which has led to some keyboard warriors on Twitter even demand omission of Suryakumar and Kishan from India's T20 World Cup team.

New Delhi: Mumbai Indians' star players Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan are a part of India's T20 World Cup squad but so far have not been able to showcase their form in IPL 2021 Phase 2 in UAE.

Both Suryakumar and Ishan are struggling to score runs which has led to some keyboard warriors on Twitter even demand omission of Suryakumar and Kishan from India's T20 World Cup team.

Former India cricketer and legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar has opined on the performance of both the players and explained why the duo is consistently failing to perform well in the ongoing season of Indian Premier league (IPL).

"I think it looks to me like, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan have just relaxed a little bit after getting the India cap. They might not have, but some of the shots they are playing - it looks like they are trying to play these big shots just because they are India players," Gavaskar said on Star Sports show 'Cricket Connected'.

"Sometimes what happens is, you gotta give yourself a little bit of time, and you gotta get your shot selection right. And I think that is where they have missed this time around, where their shot selection has not been exactly correct, and that's why they've got out cheaply."

A few days back, West Indies former batsman Brian Lara slammed Mumbai Indians selectors for including Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav in the Mumbai squad despite poor form in IPL 2021.

Lara had slammed the selectors saying that the two batsmen are constantly flopping but still are getting preference over other players who also deserve a chance to showcase their talent.
