IPL 2021: David Warner Reveals He Wasn't Explained Why He Was Removed As Sunrisers Hyderabad Captain

David Warner was benched after a few matches in the UAE phase of IPL 2021. Now, in a recent interview, Warner revealed that no one even told him why he was stripped of the captaincy.

New Delhi: Sunrisers Hyderabad former skipper and star opener David Warner was stripped of the captaincy due to his poor form and SRH's consistent losses. When the 14th season of IPL started, Warner was leading the side but due to Hyderabad's poor show, the team management decided to replace him with New Zealand's Kane Williamson.

After this, Warner was also benched after a few matches in the UAE phase of IPL 2021. Now, in a recent interview, Warner revealed that no one even told him why he was stripped of the captaincy. He said that he has a lot of respect for the team owners as well as the sports staff. The Australian opener, however, added that whenever a decision is taken, it should be taken unanimously.

“I am not 100 percent sure how to answer that. With the utmost respect for the owners, Trevor Baylis, Laxman, Moody, and Murali, when a decision gets made, it has to be a unanimous one. You don't know who the person is going for you and who isn't," Warner told Sports Today.

“The other disappointing thing for me was not being explained why I was dropped as captain. If you want to go along the lines of form, it is a difficult one because I guess whatever you have done in the past would have some weight moving forward, you would think," he added.

“Especially when you have played about 100 games for the franchise, I think I had four bad games in those first five matches in Chennai. It is difficult, a tough pill to swallow. There are still questions to which I think I'll never get answers, but you have to move on,” the star Australian batsman further said.

“I would love nothing more than to represent SunRisers but obviously, that decision is with the owners,” David Warner signed off.
