IPL 2020 Anthem Copied? Song Composer Pranav Ajayrao Malpe Refutes Rapper KR$NA's Claims
Rapper Krishna Kaul has alleged that the IPL anthem is copied from his song " Dekho Kaun Aaya Wapas' released in 2017. Know what the Song composer has to say on this.
The IPL 2020 is all set to begin on September 19 with Mumbai Indians taking on the Chennai Super Kings in Abu Dhabi. With less than 9 days to go, the IPL released an anthem on September 6 which is titled “Aayenge hum wapas” meaning “We will comeback”.
The new IPL anthem showcased the spirit of India, which is trying to make a comeback after the disastrous COVID-19 pandemic. Fans were in love with the new IPL promo because of its catchy music and beautiful lyrics.
The 93-second video features a montage of people who are surviving the coronavirus pandemic but are now relishing the prospect of seeing their favourite teams and players back in action on September 19. The video also includes action on the field from previous editions of the IPL.
IPL 2020: Rapper Krishna Kaul accuses official IPL broadcasters of plagiarism
With the release of the IPL 2020 anthem, the song has landed into a controversy. . Rapper KR$NA, also known as Krishna Kaul, has alleged that the anthem has been copied from his rap song in 2017 which was titled “Dekho Kaun Aaya Wapas”. Kaul took to Twitter and called out IPL for plagiarizing his song "Dekh Kaun Aaya Waapas" and recreating it with "Aayenge Hum Wapas". He further asked his friends and fans to not share his tweet and not let the IPL broadcasters and BCCI get away with it.The Rapper's claim generated a social media campaign and "#IPLAnthemCopied started trending on Twitter on Thursday morning. However the composer of the anthem has refuted the plagiarism allegations.Hey guys, @IPL has plagiarised my song “Dekh Kaun Aaya Waapas” and created “Aayenge Hum Wapas” as this years anthem without credit or consent. "Shocked to hear plagiarism allegations", Song Composer Pranav Ajayrao Malpe
According to a report by ANI, Malpe said he was shocked when he was initially told about the claims of Kaul. "I was shocked. My composition is original and is not inspired by any other artist's work. It has been created by me and my team with all our hard work and efforts," he said. In fact, to put an end to the plagiarism claims, Malpe also displayed a certificate to ANI from the Music Composers Association of India (MCAI0 which clearly states that his song is an original song. " I would like to share with you a certificate from the Music Composers Association of India which is based on the findings of four well-known Music composers who compared the two songs.
