'Sir Let Me...': Suryakumar Yadav Reacts To His Comparison With Australia's Michael Bevan

On the eve of the second ODI, during pre-match presser, Surya was told that people have started comparing him to great Michael Bevan, who was Australia's prime finisher in ODI cricket.

New Delhi: Tamil Nadu's lanky all-rounder Suryakumar Yadav, ever since making his international debut against England last year, has been trying to cement his place in the national team as a middle-order batter with some great performances.

However, his journey has been full of struggles. The dashing batter was ruled out from cricket for five months after he sustained a finger injury but he didn't lose hope and used his forced break to work on himself.

In Ind vs WI 1st ODI, Suryakumar Yadav starred both with the bat and bowl after he was included in the playing XI. He made his international return with a 3/30 against Windies in the series opener at Ahmedabad.

Also, he remained unbeaten on 4 off 36 balls as he along with debutant Deepak Hooda helped India steady innings after losing quick wickets and ultimately win the match.

On the eve of the second ODI, during pre-match presser, Surya was told that people have started comparing him to great Michael Bevan, who was Australia's prime finisher in ODI cricket.

"Sir let me be Suryakumar Yadav...with difficulty have played 5-7 games for India...but yes I am trying, whichever number I get to bat, and can win the team from any situation, so that will be my effort.

"Even if I bat first, I will do the same things, I will try to express (myself) and be fearless as I always am," he said when asked about his comparisons with Michael Bevan, PTI reported.

Suryakumar asserted he's focused on winning the game in whatever situation he comes in to bat.

"Whatever number I can bat, whatever situation I am in, if I can make the team win from there, that will be my focus. But I want to be fearless as I am, always," he further added.

"I am really flexible, wherever the team management wants me to bat, I am really flexible to bat at any position. Yes, I have batted at No.3, 4, and 5, really happy with the way things are going right now," he said.
