India had a poor start in their innings as they faced a major setback with its top order, apart from Rohit Sharma, yet again failing to score runs.

Shubhman Gill and Virat Kohli, both departed for ducks and Pujara too failed to play a long innings but Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane stitched a solid partnership to pull their squad back into the game. Meanwhile, actor Ranveer Singh seemed to be glued to his television set as Ind vs Eng Chennai Test unfolded.

The star actor took to twitter to post an encouraging tweet for both Rahane and Rohit as they battled the lethal English bowling attack.

Ranveer Singh praised both Indian batsmen on Twitter and wrote - Hitman looking good today...Jinks and Him gotta consolidate now....

Ultimately, Rahane and Rohit Sharma performed according to Ranveer Singh's expectations. The duo put together 162 runs to put India in a commanding position.

While Rohit scored a blistering 161 runs, his partner Ajinkya Rahane attained 67 runs from the other end. Due to their heroic partnership, team India was able to reach the score of 300 against England in Chennai.

England bowlers finally made a great comeback in the final session of Ind vs Eng Chennai Test and picked some quick wickets to restrict the hosts to 300/6 at Stumps on Day 1.

The result of this match is very crucial for Virat & Co., because if India loses the 2nd Test, they will not only miss the chance to win Ind vs Eng Test series, but also lose the chance to make it to the final of the World Test Championship.
