Ind vs Eng: Ravi Shastri Reacts To Jasprit Bumrah's 'Record-Breaking' Over Vs England

India's stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah had scored no runs off 7 balls when 84th over started but by the time this over ended, the speedster had raced to 29 runs off just 14 deliveries.

New Delhi: Rarely it happens that former team India head coach Ravi Shastri is not commentating on the mic when an iconic cricketing moment takes place. The same was the case when team India's stand-in skipper for Ind vs Eng Edgbaston Test, Jasprit Bumrah registered a marvelous record on Saturday. Bumrah broke the world record for scoring the most runs in an over in Test cricket. His unforgettable batting effort helped him break Windies legend Brian Lara's record.

In the 84th over of the Indian innings on Day 2, bowled by veteran Stuart Broad, Bumrah scored 35 runs. India's stand-in skipper had scored no runs off 7 balls when this over started but by the time this over ended, Bumrah had raced to 29 runs off just 14 deliveries. Broad now holds the record for bowling the most expensive over in both T20 and Test cricket.

Reacting to Bumrah's historic feat, Ravi Shastri said, "Don’t tell me I was again on the mic when 35 runs were scored. I thought I had seen it all, but not really. 36 from Yuvraj (Singh), 36 I had hit myself and today what I saw was bizarre. It’s something you would have never imagined. A world record from Jasprit Bumrah, batting at No. 10, as captain of India for the first time," said Shastri in a video posted by BCCI's Twitter account.

“You feel you’ve seen everything. But you must realize you are still a student in the game. Something will surprise you on another day. What I saw today was something absolutely bizarre. Jasprit Bumrah breaking the world record - getting 29 off his bat in a 35-run over," he concluded.
